This year's roots (left) versus last years roots (right) and check out that soil! Having seeded too early (pandemic boredom) we had to transplant from 4-inch pots into larger pots. This year, timing is perfect to have uninterrupted growth from seed and we are only planting out of 72 cell flats.
This year’s roots aren't encircled and vigor will be higher than stepping up plants before getting them into the field.
Including a crop rotation of other crops like zinnia, pumpkin, kale, and sunflowers, for pollinators and people, ensures that we are always getting the most out of our garden and supporting the health of the soil.
